New Delhi. The Urban Extension Highway Project (UER-2), which is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 7,716 crore, is due to be completed in September this year as part of a plan to reduce congestion in the country’s capital. It is proposed to develop the third ring road of the national capital in five phases. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently gave this information.

Gadkari inspected the progress of the Urban Extension Highway Project (UER-2) along with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena, MP Hans Raj Hans MP, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and other senior officials. Gadkari said: “We are developing UER-2 as part of the plan to decongest Delhi. The project includes the construction of UER-2 in 5 different packages at a cost of Rs 7,716 crore.

60 percent of the work has been completed.
Gadkari said: “60 percent of the work on the UER-2 project has been completed. The project will be completed and inaugurated in the next 6 months.”

NH-344M will serve as an additional Western Ring Road
NH-344M (Package 1-3) will serve as an additional Western Ring Road in Delhi, reducing travel time to Indira Gandhi International Airport from 2 hours to 20 minutes. This will provide an alternative route for traffic heading west/south from Delhi and Gurgaon to N-44, Chandigarh, Punjab and J&K. It also connects with the proposed IICC at Dwarka, which will improve traffic in Delhi.

Rs 60,000 crore project implemented to reduce pollution in Delhi
Gadkari also said that repair work is being carried out on the Delhi-Jaipur section of National Highway 8. The minister said that as far as Delhi is concerned, projects worth Rs 60,000 crore are being implemented to reduce pollution from the air in the national capital. He said there is also a plan to have a separate lane for electric trucks and buses on the Delhi-Jaipur section of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway.
