Palghar, Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly pushing women into prostitution in Nalasopara of Palghar district of Maharashtra. An official gave this information on Sunday. The official said that on March 15, officers from the Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar Police Commissioner’s Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC), Nalasopara unit, arrested the accused.
AHTC Chief Inspector Santosh Chowdhary said: “The police had received a tip that a man was forcing some women into prostitution. After which the police arrested the defendant from Nalasopara Naka.
The police said that based on the information provided by the defendant, the police raided a local shopping center and rescued two women from prostitution. A case under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act was registered against the defendant at the Waliv police station, he said.
