The cost of these roads is less than that of normal asphalt roads and their age is older, that is, they do not break quickly. In this way the cost of its maintenance is reduced.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued policy guidelines in this regard, as well as rules/manuals published by the Indian Road Congress (IRC). The purpose of using this waste material is to reduce the cost of construction, conserve the country’s natural resources, and promote sustainability. In addition to the road, the use of waste on the sidewalk is also being promoted.

According to the ministry report, the maximum number of such roads have been built in Uttar Pradesh. Here, of the total waste material carried out on the road, about 40 percent, that is, 1163 km. It has been built. After this, the second number is from Karnataka, here 521 km. And Andhra Pradesh at number three here is 209 km. The road has been built with waste material. At the same time, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand and Andaman and Nicobar build the least roads.
