New Delhi. Sandeep Bakshi, MD and CEO of the private sector ICICI Bank, is one of the highest paid bankers in India. When Bakshi took over as MD-CEO of ICICI Bank in 2018, the bank was in trouble. His predecessor, Chanda Kochhar, resigned over allegations of financial improprieties. The faith of the people in the bank wavered. He is credited with leading the bank out of one of its darkest chapters and restoring its lost credibility.
His annual salary in FY 2022 is reported by the media to be Rs 7.98 crore which is roughly Rs 65 lakh per month. He had given up his 2021 salary due to the Corona crisis. Bakshi has put ICICI Bank back on the growth trajectory. When he took office, the BSE share price was Rs 313.35. It closed at Rs 825 on March 16, 2023. This shows that investors have shown confidence in the management of the bank. Under Sandeep Bakshi, the market capitalization of ICICI Bank grew to around Rs 5.74 lakh crore.

Bakshi has been associated with the ICICI Group since 1986. He became MD and CEO of ICICI Lombard General Insurance in April 2002. Subsequently, from August 2010 to June 2018, he also held the position of MD CEO at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance .

Sandeep Bakshi was born on May 28, 1960. Bakshi, 62, earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Chandigarh’s Punjab College of Engineering. Following this, he studied management at Xavier School of Management (XLRI), Jamshedpur.
