Mumbai: The rupee fell three paise to 82.76 against the US currency in early trading on Tuesday as the US dollar strengthened. Forex traders said the rupee’s losses were limited and it traded in a tight range due to strength in domestic stocks and declining crude oil prices.
The rupee opened weak at 82.76 on the interbank forex market, showing a weakness of three paise above its previous closing price. The previous trading day, the rupee had closed at 82.73 to the dollar on Monday. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which reflects the dollar’s strength against a basket of six major currencies, rose 0.19 percent to 104.05.
