New Delhi, Air India offered the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for its non-air operations staff on Friday. This is the second such offer from the Tata group since it acquired the airline in January last year. This offer is for permanent general manager officers who are 40 years of age or older and have completed a minimum of five years of continuous service with the airline.
Apart from this, clerical or unskilled category employees who have completed a minimum of five years of continuous service are also eligible. This offer will be open until April 30.
The sources said that around 2,100 employees are eligible for this voluntary retirement offer. Earlier, Air India had submitted a similar proposal in June 2022. An official information stated: “Application for this can be made from March 17 to April 30, 2023.” Eligible employees who apply before March 31, 2023 will get Rs one lakh on top of the ex-gratia amount. About 1,500 of the 4,200 eligible employees took advantage of the offer when it was first introduced.
